Welded Rail Technology
The rails of the board are generally the most vulnerable to leaks. This is because the rails (sides) of the board hold two components together, the deck and the bottom. Starboard has chosen to combine the two separate parts via a special technique connect with each other.
Thus, the deck and bottom are bonded together through heat. This reduces the chance of leakage, in the long run, compared to using glue. Because of this, the boards of this brand are also sturdier and more durable.
Woven Dropstitch Technology
Thanks to the woven drop stitch technology Starboard's inflatable SUP boards are becoming lighter, sturdier and more maneuverable. The technology is located in the core of the board between the two PVC layers.
Between the PVC layers are polyester yarn placed that go rigid when the board is inflated. This results in the solid shape of the board and achieving a higher stiffness.
Then we also looked at what could be taken away to maintain the same performance but make the board lighter. For example, the yarns in the board have been reduced per square centimeter, allowing for less material has been used. As a result, the average weight of inflatable SUPs is over 1.5 kg decreased.
Dual Chamber Technology
Of course, safety on the water is also an important component. For this reason, Starboard has developed the double chamber technology created. The technology has been applied to all inflatable models since 2014. This provides a higher rigidity, volume and better safety on the water.
The buoyancy of the board becomes higher and is therefore ideal for persons of higher weight. Lighter and smaller boards can therefore also be used by larger persons.
