It can sometimes be difficult to find the right one between all the different wetsuit sizes . Yet this is very important, since a wetsuit must fit perfectly. Should this not be the case? Then the functions of the wetsuit will disappear or become less.
A wetsuit should protect you against the cold water, so that your body temperature remains at the right level. As soon as you choose the wrong wetsuit size, you will immediately notice that the suit is not comfortable .
In addition, in some cases it can be at the expense of the life of the wetsuit. We are therefore happy to tell you more about it on this page.
Why is the right wetsuit size so important?
The most important factor in choosing a suitable wetsuit is the size . If you have chosen a suit that is too large or too small? Then you will immediately notice this in functionality. For example, it may be that you are less well protected against the cold water or that you have less freedom of movement.
Do you opt for a wetsuit that is too small? Then you notice this immediately when putting it on. This makes it difficult to get in and there is a good chance that a crack will appear somewhere. In addition, the neoprene will stretch faster, causing the material to become thinner over time .
For example, a suit with a thickness of 5 mm can only be 4 mm thick, so that the wetsuit will be less warm. Furthermore, you immediately experience less freedom of movement, which will not benefit your performance.
A wetsuit that is too large is certainly not a good option, as it creates many openings through which water can get through. In this case you are no longer properly protected against the cold water and you run the risk of becoming hypothermic or getting cramps (in cold temperatures).
